What our customers say

Howling Dog Tours is pleased to offer this small sampling of the many thank you letters and testimonials we receive:

  • Our visit to Howling Dog Tours was wonderful, the guys were so friendly, relaxed and really made us feel welcome. The kids had a great time and got to ride shot gun on the sleigh, which they keep going on about to all their friends. Thank you all for the highlight of our holiday to Canada.

  • Dear Dana,
We just wanted to express our sincere gratitude to everyone at Howling Dogs for a most fantastic experience Dog Sledding last Saturday. Everyone was so friendly and helpful and our guides Adrian and Aiden were amazing. The girls (both young and not so young!) had a great time.

The one thing that struck me most was how wonderful the dogs were. You could go up and pet any dog from any team and they were so excited to meet you. When calling them by name out on the trail, you saw their ears perk up and an extra bounce in their steps. They obviously love what they do and that is a true testamount to how they are being so lovingly cared for.

We will definitely be encouraging other Guiding groups to come out and have their own experience of a lifetime. It was every thing we imagined and more! I will be in touch once the other members from our group return from NZ to try and get them out one afternoon before you close for the season. Thanks again for everything,

  • I've toured with Howling Dog Tours of Canmore for 3 years now. I coordinate events on a voluntary basis with our local outdoor club and this is always a popular event in our club. We book the Unleash the Musher Tour as it is a great deal - we also get a discount for having more than 10 people - 2 per sled.

They pick us up at their offices in Canmore and shuttle us up to the site where the 2 hour tour begins. We are given a safety briefing and then get to meet our guides and the dogs. These dogs are super athletes who love what they do and are very friendly with people and are always eager to get started. The tour includes getting familiar with the dogs and getting them hooked up to their sled lines, sledding about 5k to the break stop, a snack with hot chocolate or cider, returning and watering and feeding the dogs. Everyone gets an opportunity to mush. There is also a photographer onsite to catch the experience for you and the pictures are ready for purchase before you take the shuttle back to Canmore.

The guides are very informative and friendly as are the shuttle drivers, booking staff and management. I'll be booking with Howling Dog Tours of Canmore again in February 2013! My favourite dog is Smiley :)

  • We were on the 1200 tour - we had Chris as our guide. He was an exceptional host/guide and was most hospitable in providing my mother, kids and I with a great tour. My kids are already asking to come back. Thanks so much.

  • Mt boyfriend Cameron and I went on one of your dog sledding tours today at 1pm. Our tour guide was Jay and he was fantastic!! Made the tour so much fun, knew heaps of information about the surrounding area, easy to get along with and talk to and he loved the dogs! It was great to be with a guide who enjoys what he does and interacts well with people. We had the best time with Jay and just wanted to pass on how much we enjoyed the tour. Thank you.

  • We just wanted to say a great big thanks to all those at Howling Dog Tours. Our family had a terrific time on the tour. It was definitely a memorable experience for our three boys who are avid animal lovers and nature enthusiasts. Thanks for helping create another fantastic family experience for us. The boys are already looking forward to another winter season so they can go out again...and that's saying a lot given we're on our 7th month of snow!
    Much appreciated.

  • My husband and I had a 2 hour dogsledding tour yesterday. Our guide was Jay and his 6 fabulous well trained happy sled dogs. There is no way to express how much fun we had and how knowledgeable and caring Jay was with the dogs.

Jay is just as enthusiastic as the dogs are, he had us laughing and wanting more! This experience was so enjoyable, we wouldn't hesitate in doing this again and recommending to anyone. A 10 out of 10!! Thank you so much for the fabulous time and the fantastic picture! (I can't wait to see the digital pic).

This is my second time coming out and I will keep on coming back year after year. The Howling Dog Tours are a great group of people and the dogs love to take you on this beautiful adventure. • Hi there... I went on one of your tours last weekend (March 19, 2011), and it was absolutely amazing. Not only were the staff fantastic - our musher, Eric, was incredible; so friendly, so informative...and the dogs - so freakn' cute!

Not only was the tour amazing, but the team at Howling Dog Tours, went above and beyond the help my boyfriend arrange the most amazing day of my life, our engagement. It was magical.

I just wanted to say thank you for playing a big part in my magical day, and so happy that you were able to share in our amazing day.

  • Hi - I would just like to say thank you for a great morning dog sledging with your company. I was one of the 40 girls that used your company on Saturday 5 Feb. We all had a great time and the dogs were extremely happy and loved their jobs. I am a great dog lover and was happy to see how well cared for your dogs are. I loved being able to help get all the dogs ready for the sledge and feeding them afterwards. Thank you for a great experience.

  • I just wanted to let you know how thrilled we were with the 2 hour tour we went on yesterday, Sunday Feb 6th 2011. We were booked with you before the news broke about the happenings in Whistler and I'll admit I was nervous and considered cancelling. I'm glad we didn't. From the moment we boarded the van in Canmore, it was evident that your staff is very knowledgeable and passionate about their jobs. My 7 yr old twin sons got info from the driver about hibernating bears and the surroundings that had their eyes wide open.

The tour itself was incredible. Our guide Jason (the red bearded guy from NZ) was amazing. he was patient and very kind with my curious boys who were shy and reserved at 1st. We don't own a dog so the sights and sounds may have been overwhelming at 1st but they quickly got over it. The boys learned about the wheel dogs, the team, the leader and have taken their photo to school for show and tell. It is an experience they won't forget anytime soon. I would recommend Howling Dogs glowingly to my friends and won't hesitate to do this again. Thanks very much.

  • After deciding to do a dog sled tour as a Christmas present for each other my boyfriend and I researched all the available options here in town (Banff) and came to the conclusion that your half day "Dog Day Afternoon" tour sounded like the way to go... we had an AMAZING time. The lunch provided was delicious and a welcome change from the standard sandwiches often provided on such tours. We loved the opportunity to spend that time both taking in the surroundings and getting to know the dogs.

Your tour proved good value compared to some of those offered by your competitors and lived up to its promises on the brochures.
